Gustav Jönne, raised in Halmstad Handball Boys (Halmstad Handboll) and HK Drott, views Halmstad as more than just a city – it’s home.

”Halmstad is always home. Here I grew up and here my handball career began. I lived here until I finished high school, and every time I return, it feels special,” Gustav shares.

Memories and Motivation

Gustav has countless memories from local cups, beach handball, and his debut in HK Drott’s A-team. Returning to Halmstad for Final4 is particularly exciting for him.

”It feels great that people I know will be in the stands cheering. That gives me an extra boost.”

Training and Preparation

Halmstad Arena holds special significance, representing countless training hours during his gymnasium years at Aspero Sports High School.

His pre-match routine involves careful preparation:

• Eating a substantial breakfast
• Reviewing match videos
• Analyzing opponents
• Taking a relaxing walk with music to mentally prepare

Personal Connection: Grötvik

For Gustav, Grötvik represents his most cherished location in Halmstad. He fondly recalls summer memories and family gatherings, especially enjoying outdoor grilled meals.

”I love grilling a bit of everything – meat, halloumi, and vegetables – creating a delicious mix.”

Advice to Young Athletes

Gustav offers wisdom to young athletes, emphasizing not stressing about physical development. He credits his trainer Marcus from Aspero Sports High School for teaching him to develop at his own pace.

Future Dreams

While dreaming of potentially playing handball internationally, Gustav’s heart remains connected to Halmstad.

”The future is exciting. My goal is to take more steps. Playing abroad is absolutely a dream, an adventure I’d like to try. But Halmstad will always be on my world map. It’s my home base, and it always will be.”
